For more than two decade I have served on several committees and held various union positions- always ensuring that teachers concerns are listened to and heard. I have divided this section into union positions and committee work:

Educational Policies Committee
(Laurier Teachers Union)
Provided teacher participation in the establishment of educational policies at the board level. Made sure that the school board followed protocols and the Education Act, Basic School Regulation and the Annual instructions. I have been able to ensure better transparency by the board and have communicated with teachers about standards and procedures as well as Progressing entry at primary school etc.
Professional Improvement Committee

Promoted the professional development of teachers and provides a framework for the equitable distribution of professional improvement funds. Despite the government not providing any more funds I was able to work to keep the maximum replacement per day for a replacement at $242/day and keep the max amount for PIC workshop use to $900/year.
Special Education Policy Advisory Committee

Advised the board on the special education policy and budget for students with special needs. These meetings were held in the evening. I served for about 17 years on this committee which meets in the evening 5-10 times. year representing teachers views and rights.
Parity for Special Needs Committee

Made recommendations on the implementation of the Special Needs Policy, as well as the distribution of support services. Continued to advocate for more equitable distribution of funds among schools even though the budgets have not consistently been indexed to inflation. Advocated for the opening of four classes outside of Crestview ES.
Labour Relations Committee

I have several years of experience on the Labour Relations Committee, where I have defended teachers’ rights and represented their concerns with rigour and conviction.
Justice, Equity & Inclusivity Committee

This committee is a network that brings together members to advance justice, equity, diversity, decolonization, Indigeneity, and inclusion work through dialogue, resource sharing, professional learning, and strategic planning across organizations.
Budget and Finance Committee
(Laurier Teachers Union)
Oversaw LTU’s annual budget planning and audit review, while streamlining budget processes, improving transparency, and helping strengthen the union’s financial position.
Union Renewal Committee (Ad Hoc)

Looked into ways to increase participation in the union.
Retiree recognition committee (Ad Hoc)

Committee set up to look into recognizing retired and retiring teachers who contributed to teacher solidarity through unionism
Resource Teachers Network
(SWLSB)
Set up to indentify and streamline best practices across the school board in relation to providing support to teachers.
SWLSB Town Hall Teacher Representative (2018)
Represented teacher concerns during the School Boards consultation exercise.
Human Rights & Social Justice Committee (Quebec Provincial Association of Teachers)
For more than a decade I have participated in this committee which looks into ways to promote and share teacher projects related to human rights and social justice.
Special Needs Committee

Represent the concerns of LTU teachers on this provincial committee looking into ways to address teacher concerns regarding access to services for students with special needs.

Planned the QPAT annual budget as well as review the audit
Nominations Committee

Represented LTU on the committee which monitored elections at QPAT
JEDDII Network
Justice, Equity, Diversity, Decolonization, Indigeneity and Inclusivity

This committee brings members together to advance justice, equity, diversity, decolonization, Indigeneity, and inclusion across organizations. It supports dialogue, resource sharing, professional learning, and strategic planning to help turn those commitments into action.
